Bill Ripken ( Full name: William Oliver Ripken) is an American former professional baseball infielder nicknamed Billy The Kid. He now serves as a studio analyst for MLB Network and a radio personality for SiriusXM. From 1987 to 1998, he played in Major League Baseball (MLB). Bill played for the Baltimore Orioles from 1987 to 1992, and in 1996, he played for Texas Rangers from 1993 to 94, and 1997. Also, Bill played for Cleveland Indians in 1995 and Detroit Tigers in 1998.
In 1987, he reached the MLB and he created the first situation in baseball history that a father had managed two sons on the same team since his brother played for the Orioles and Cal Ripken Sr., managed the team. Although he led the Orioles in batting average with a .291 mark in 1990, Bill was a light hitter better known for his fielding skills.
For most of his first stint with the team, he served as the team’s starting second baseman. Bill played with four other teams (including the Orioles in 1996) after the Orioles released him following the 1992 campaign. He mostly served as a utility infielder and never held a starting role for very long. Bil played his final game in 1998 for the Detroit Tigers.

This version is included in all factory sets. As a result, both the original card and many of the corrected versions became collector’s items. This card has at least ten different variations. The original card’s price went up to several hundred dollars once news got out. Bill admitted years later to having written the expletive on the bat but he claimed he did it to distinguish it as a batting practice bat. He added that he did not intend to use it for the card.
