Ben Miller is an English actor and comedian. He became known as one half of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller. Miller is also known for playing the lead role of DI Richard Poole in the first two series of the BBC crime drama Death in Paradise. He also portrayed James Lester in the ITV science-fiction series Primeval.
He moved to London to pursue a career in comedy. Miller was introduced to fellow Cambridge graduate Alexander Armstrong in 1992, at the TBA Sketch Comedy Group, a comedy club that ran at the Gate Theatre Studio, Notting Hill throughout the 1990s. They performed their first full-length show together at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1994 and returned in 1996 when they were nominated for the Perrier Comedy Award.

Filming started in March 2013, and Ben left in May after completion of the first episode, in which his character was murdered. He reprised his role for a cameo appearance in a dream sequence during the tenth series in 2021.
