After leaving BSF teaching class, Ann founded a non-profit organization, AnGeL Ministries based in Raleigh, NC. Her aim was to undergird her ability to accept teaching invitations. According to her, the name “AnGeL Ministries” takes her initials “AGL” and she added the “n” and “e” to form the word “AnGeL”. She choose the name because in the Bible, angels were messengers of God and they went where God sent them and gave the message God put on their hearts. Anne felt that describes what she does.
Anne accepted invitations to speak all over the world during the early years of AnGeL Ministries. She could speak at pastor’s conferences, at women’s conferences, and also world evangelism conferences. By 2000, Anne felt that her ministry was taking a different direction. Her popularity is such that she draws large crowds from all over the world, despite that she encountered some resistance from conservative Protestants as a female evangelist. In 1999, the New York Times considered Anne as one of the five most influential evangelists in the United States.
