Her daughter’s official cause of death was fentanyl poisoning. Following coming back to work after a several-month leave of absence, Angela told her story to KELOLAND viewers. Afterward that week, Angela appeared on CBS This Morning and many other national outlets to share her story.
That same week, Angela and her husband Jeff began a non-profit organization titled “Emily’s Hope.” Angela’s number one purpose for talking about it is to erase the stigma that is surrounding addiction, mostly the use of heroin or any kind of opioid.
That non-profit has helped raise thousands for the Avera Addiction Care Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as well as Emily’s Hope House, a sober living house as part of the Oxford Sober Living Network. Angela also started a podcast titled”Grieving Out Loud.”
