Andy Bechtolsheim ( Full Name: Andreas Maria Maximilian Freiherr von Mauchenheim genannt Bechtolsheim) is a German electrical engineer, entrepreneur, and investor who is the co-founder and chairman of Arista Networks, a high-speed datacenter and cloud networking company. In 1982, Andy co-founded tech hardware firm Sun Microsystems with Bill Joy, Scott McNealy, and Vinod Khosla. Oracle purchased Sun in 2010 for $7.4 billion.
Andy served as CEO and a founder of Granite Systems, a gigabit Ethernet switching company, from 1995 to 1996 when it was acquired by Cisco Systems. He managed Cisco’s Gigabit Systems Business Unit responsible for the highest-volume modular switching platform in the industry.
