She is the daughter of Dear Abby’s founder Pauline Esther “Popo” Phillips and Morton Phillips. In August 2002, she officially took the Dear Abby’s mantle when the Phillips family made the announcement that Pauline had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
