David Gallaher ( Full name: David Matthew Gallaher ) is an American podcaster, graphic novelist, video game writer, and editor. He is best known for his work in comics and video games such as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, The Only Living Boy, Vampire, Box 13, High Moon, Yours Truly, The Masquerade, Johnny Dollar, and ‘The Only Living Girl’. David’s clients include Harris Publications, the CBLDF, Marvel Comics, and McGraw-Hill. Also, he helped create ad campaigns for the New York City Police Department.

At the age of 7, his mother bought a book for him that featured superhero designs one could trace. David became an avid reader of Captain America, West Coast Avengers, Fantastic Four,  and Speedball during Boy Scout summer camp in ’88. He has cited John Byrne’s “Vision Quest” storyline in West Coast Avengers as a story that had a significant influence on him. David became a fan of Byrne’s, particularly his work on Namor.

Macy, David Mamet, and Piers Anthony studied there.  The school permitted him to create his own curriculum to major in Comics.  Also, David taught a comics class to seniors and juniors where the work of Garth Ennis and Warren Ellis included as part of the curriculum.

He drew a crude version of his résumé as a six-panel comic strip after graduating from Goddard. David faxed it to Marvel Comics.  He received a call the next day to work as an intern at Marvel for the Interactive and Marketing department.  David was hired after a week as the department production editor. His major role was editing digital comics, researching material, training interns, writing character biographies, as well as developing websites.

At Marvel, his work as a creator includes Hulk: Winter Guard and Darkstar and the Winter Guard. David met Joe Gentile of Moonstone Books in late 2001 at the Detroit Motor City Comic-Con.  Joe encouraged him to submit for the Moonstone Noir Line and was hired to write Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. David wrote single issues of comics for More Fund Comics (Sky-Dog Press), Deadlands (IDW and Image Comics), Immortals Gods and Heroes (Archaia), Annex (Chalk Outline Studios),  and Vampirella #8-10 (Harris).

Also, he wrote articles for Marvel Comics as well as Visual Opinions Magazine. In advertising,  David worked on  a number of successful campaigns for the New York Police Department such as “Only in NY, Only in The NYPD” campaigns that won CEA Awards in 2008 and 2009, a multimedia presentation CD Rom which won the 2007 CEA Award, and the 2008 “My NYPD.” Also, David worked on books about marketing and computers including Introduction to Web Databases and Networking Tools 2.0.

David was named as a ‘Breakout Creator’ by Comic Foundry magazine in 2008. He earned a Harvey Award for his work on the series High Moon in October 2009. David worked as consulting editor on a broad range of titles for Kodansha in July 2011,  including Negima, Gon, Sailor Moon, and Arisa. He and artist Steve Ellis formed Bottled Lightning Studios in July 2012, to self-publish their comics. During the “Convergence” storyline, he wrote 2 issues of Green Lantern Corps for DC Comics.
