Russell Kane (Full Name: Russell David Anthony Grineau) is a popular English writer, comedian, and actor. Kane won the Best Comedy Show award in 2010 at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. As of now, Kane works as the host of the BBC Radio 4 series Evil Genius an exploration of famous people in contemporary history.
He served as the host of BBC Radio 2’s Out to Lunch from series 4 onwards. Kane presents a Sunday afternoon show on the relaunched Q Radio digital radio station. Kane took his stand-up show Gaping Flaws to the Edinburgh Festival in August 2008, where it was nominated for the 2008 Edinburgh Comedy Awards. He also took his hour-long play, The Lamentable Tragedie of Yates’s Wine Lodge, which transferred for one night to the Courtyard Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon.
He performed at the Hammersmith Apollo on 20 November 2008, for the BBC’s Live at the Apollo. Kane came back to Edinburgh in 2009, with two new shows: a play entitled Fakespeare and a stand-up show entitled Human Dressage. Fakespeare became a sell-out success and went on tour in February 2010. Human Dressage saw Kane nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for the third time and toured from October 2009 through January 2010.
