The British columnist has been involved in a number of controversies such as making statements expressing anti-Polish sentiment, breaching a privacy injunction, and expressing pleasure at the death of another writer.

The couple had married each other in 1963 and gave birth to Giles and his sister Victoria. Alan’s cousin Michael Coren, emigrated to Canada to become a journalist and he credits him with much help. Alan’s remains were buried at Hampstead Cemetery in north London.
