Before joining the journalism industry, Honig worked as an attorney. Following his graduation, he began working with Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. He later worked in the Southern District of New York from 2004 to 2012 as an assistant United States attorney. Moreover, Honig brought to trial organized crimes. Furthermore, he began serving the role of the deputy chief of the Organized Crime Unit in 2010.
