Lisa Monaco is an American attorney. Currently, she serves as the 39th deputy attorney general of the United States where she started in April 2021. Monaco served as the Homeland Security Adviser to President Barack Obama, and the chief counterterrorism advisor to the president.
Previously, she served as the Assistant Attorney General for National Security from 2011 to 2013. Moreover, Monaco was the Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Justice Department. Additionally, in 2017, she became a senior national security analyst for CNN.
Monaco spent 15 years at the Department of Justice, prior to the white house. From 2013 to 2017, Monaco served as an assistant to President Barack Obama for homeland security and counterterrorism. Furthermore, she took office on March 8, 2013. During that time, her role was to advise Obama on counterterrorism strategy and coordinate homeland security-related activities.
The issues ranged from terrorist attacks at home and abroad to cybersecurity, pandemics, and natural disasters.
