Jorge joined Univision in 1987 working as an anchorman for Noticiero Univision, which airs weekly on Univision alongside Maria Elena Salinas. In addition, he also hosts “America with Jorge Ramos”. In 1989, he witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall. Jorge has also covered various world events including the Salvadoran Civil War, the disintegration of the former Soviet Union, the Persian Gulf War, and the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

After two years, Jorge became the host for KMEX’s morning program known as “Mundo Latino”. He then joined SIN’s national operation in 1987, which was rebranded as the Univision network.

The Univision anchor, Jorge stood up at the Iowa press event on August 25, 2015, and attempted to ask Trump a question concerning the candidate’s controversial immigration proposals. Trump told him to sit down since he had not been called on. He then went ahead and told the anchor to go back to Univision. As a result, Jorge refused to sit down and was later escorted out of the room by security personnel. Trump said that the security personnel had acted on their own without his consent which was something that Jorge disprove.
