In June 2022, Pittman signed a contract extension through at least the 2026 season with the Arkansas. His new contract will go into the 2027 season based on on-field success. From his contract, his salary increases to $5 million per year. He was previously making $3 million through 2024.

He first joined University of Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema’s staff as assistant head coach and offensive line coach working from 2013 to 2015. During his tenure, he fielded some of the best offensive lines in college football with the biggest line in all of football in 2015. Pittman was announced as the new head coach at Arkansas, replacing Chad Morris on December 8, 2019. His first season as head coach proved a successful one, with the Razorbacks finishing 3–7 in an all-SEC schedule. In 2021, he led the Razorbacks to a 9–4 record, finishing 4–4 in SEC play. In addition, he hired former Razorback head coach Bobby Petrino as Offensive Coordinator on November 29, 2023. He also hired Baylor OL coach Eric Mateos after OL coach Cody Kennedy left.

He joined the University of Georgia under new head coach Kirby Smart after he departed Arkansas. He worked as an offensive line coach at the University of Georgia. Georgia paid a $250,000 buyout to hire Pittman. During his tenure at Georgia, he garnered a reputation as “one of the best recruiters and offensive line coaches in the SEC.”
The team won the first of three consecutive Southeastern Conference East Division titles from 2017 to 2019. He was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award for the best offensive line in college football in 2018. He left the team in 2019.

He commissioned a statue of two hogs for his Lake Hamilton house months after signing his contract extension in July 2022. He shared the backstory on the statue stating the Hog statue was initially a statue of a marlin with a fisherman catching it on its pole. The statue came in after the Pittmans purchased the lakehouse and a storm damaged the marlin. The marlin’s water feature led the Head Hog to imagine a slobbering hog statue with water coming out of its mouth.

He later returned to Northern Illinois from 2003 to 2006.
Pittman moved over to the University of Cincinnati, joining Rick Minter’s staff as tight ends coach.
