The doctors put her in a wheelchair. Mary threw up all over herself and fell forward like she lost all ability to sit up. Moreover, they performed a CT scan and an MRI to determine what had happened. The doctors saw nothing at first. Pam stated that the doctors were completely perplexed because it showed everything perfect and normal from the brain to the spinal cord.
Two days later, Mary underwent the scans again. This time, the results showed the spinal stroke in the area that controls the legs and the feet. Mary was in the intensive care unit of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for six days. She was then taken to inpatient rehabilitation. The journalist’s daughter was paralyzed from her mid-chest down. She has been involved in several other rehabilitation programs since then. This includes a stay at Frazier Rehabilitation Institute in Lexington, Kentucky.
