Art Rascon is an American multi Emmy award-winning journalist who currently works at ABC13 in Houston, Texas as a news anchor and reporter. He joined the news channel in September 1998. Currently, Art airs the 11 am, 5 pm, and 6 pm newscasts. Prior to joining ABC13 in Houston, he served as a news correspondent at CBS News in Greater New York City Area. Art has won has many awards, including two national Edward R. Murrow awards, 19 Emmy Awards, an RTNDA Award for Continuing Coverage, and 18 Associated Press Reporting awards.
He started his career in 1983 in Utah, where he worked as an associate producer and reporter for the PBS affiliate KBYU-TV in Provo, Utah, and later on for ABC affiliate KTVX-TV in Salt Lake City. He then moved to Texas in 1985 where he was a producer, reporter, and anchor for NBC affiliate, KRBC-TV, in Abilene until August 1987 when he moved to KVIA-TV, an ABC affiliate station in El Paso.

Art tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after Christmas and has faced a lot of difficulties during his recovery. He experienced aches, pains, extreme fatigue, fever, and breathing issues and had to be rushed to hospital where he was admitted for two weeks. During his time in hospital, he developed what doctors called “COVID pneumonia” and he was put on oxygen tanks which helped him breathe. Most members of his family also tested positive for the virus but their symptoms were not wild. He and his daughter-in-law Ashley were the worst hit and were admitted to hospital.
