Next, right here in Mobile, Ashley anchored the weekend evening news and covered for WKRG News 5. Ashley did both the Carnival Cruise Triumph disaster, for which the station received an Edward R. Murrow award and the Black Hawk Helicopter crash near Eglin Air Force Base that lost the lives of seven Marines and four soldiers during a training exercise. Ashley was also here for the investigation, and later resignation, of embattled Alabama Governor Robert Bentley. And Ashley will always remember reporting the tragic death investigation of eight-year-old Hiawayi Robinson.
Most recently, she covered for the Fox affiliate in Birmingham, Alabama. While there, Ashley was part of the Abby-award winning coverage of the shooting of Officer Cullen Stafford. Ashley became also the first on the scene to report the deadly shooting Thanksgiving night at the Riverchase Galleria Mall and the emerging community protests. This report also received an Abby award.
