Judd Hirsch is a noted Canadian-American actor known for playing Alex Rieger on the tv comedy series Taxi from 1978 to 1983. He also appeared in the NBC series Dear John and the CBS series Numb3rs. Hirsch also had roles in Independence Day, A Beautiful Mind, Independence Day: Resurgence, Ordinary People, Running on Empty, Uncut Gems, and The Fabelmans.
As an actor, he has won twice Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, two Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play, and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. In addition, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his turn as Dr. Tyrone C. Berger in Ordinary People.
