Her career began in British television in 1991 and guest-starred in four episodes of Soldier Soldier, two episodes of Cracker in 1994, and one episode of Peak Practice. She had a major role in the ITV series Band of Gold from 1995 to 1996. Morton transitioned to films with lead roles in Under the Skin, Emma, and Jane Eyre.
