David Millar is a former Scottish professional road cyclist currently working for ITV as a co-commentator and cycling journalist. As a cyclist, David rode for seven years for Cofidis a French professional racing team sponsored by the money-ending company.
From 2008-2014, he rode for an American professional cycling team called Garmin-Sharp. In 2007, he was named both the British national road champion and national time trial champion. David won one stage of the Giro d’Italia, four stages of the Tour de France, and five of the Vuelta an España. In 2015, he launched his ‘Chpt3’ brand in collaboration with various partners to produce a range of cycling-related products.
A year after retiring from cycling, David publically revealed that he was coaching Ryder Hesjedal a Canadian retired professional cyclist, and his former teammate. Additionally, he served as a mentor in the Great Britain under-23 cycling squad. In 2018, he announced that he would challenge incumbent CPA president Gianni Bugno for the leadership of the organization, however, he was defeated by Bugno, winning 96 votes to the latter’s 379.
