Ginny Buckley ( Full name: Virginia Louise Buckle) is a British journalist, and radio and television presenter. She moved to Australia at the age of 18 and lived in Sydney. Ginny worked for several years in commercial radio as well. She was a junior in the newsroom at 2UW and later at Triple M. She started in the newsroom and then became a producer for the show Club Veg. Ginny went on to become a reporter for the children’s television program called C’mon Kids for the Nine Network in Australia.
She hosted the show during its 1990-1991 incarnation. After she returned to England in 1991, Ginny started working as a co-presenter with Ross King on the BBC TV Children’s game show called “The Wetter The Better.”She recorded at the Sandcastle Leisure Centre in Blackpool. Ginny worked for Granada Television in Manchester as well. While there, she served as a reporter on the regional news program called Granada Tonight.
Also, she presented ITV’s Bodycheck and Taste for Travel. Ginny joined the BBC One travel program called Holiday in 2001, first as a reporter and later became the main anchor, following on from Craig Doyle. She left the show in 2005 after she was replaced by Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen. Ginny presented the BBC One spin-off program called Holiday 10 Best. She went back to her news background in 2005 after joining Sky News. Ginny anchored their afternoon output until 2007.
In a memorable blooper during her time at Sky, Ginny mistakenly introduced playwright Harold Pinter as “Howard Pintus”, stating that he was joining her in the studio, she immediately corrected herself to announce that he had died. Harold had in fact won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Ginny presented a BBC Two documentary on the environmental impact of travel called Should I Really Give Up Flying. She served as regularly present the flagship ITV1 Current Affairs program Tonight.
