Her first role for the public was playing n a Havana theatre production when she was 17 the lead role in Maria Antonia, by Eugenio Hernandez Espinosa. Danay began learning English in the United States by studying with dialect coaches and teachers. She then started booking commercials. While continuing her acting studies, Danay started ballet studies at the Debby Allen Dance Academy.
She booked her first U.S. feature film role in Danika playing opposite Marisa Tomei. Danay moved on to CSI: Miami and CSI: NY roles, and the feature film From Mexico With Love. She then landed her big break in the Golden Globe Award-winning Fox television series, Prison Break as series regular, Sofía Lugo. Danay made it through many rounds of auditions during the 2007 writer’s strike for the Eon Productions’ Quantum of Solace, Camille Montes, and a Bond girl in MGM.
