Welmoed Laanstra is an American public art projects curator. She is currently based in Arlington County, Virginia. As a public art projects curator, Welmoed focuses on creating a mix of temporary projects that contains long-term and permanent installations. In so doing, her goal is to energize as well as utilize the public space so as to create a unique relationship between art and the urban culture

In 2006, Welmoed co-founded a public art initiative Street Scenes: Projects for DC. It has so far installed and also organized temporary public art projects all over the Washington metropolitan area. The Projects included; Pas de Dirt by Liz Lerman at the National Building Museum, Imagine Peace by Yoko Ono, as well as For The Capital by Jenny Holzer at the Kennedy Center. In the summer of the same year, Welmoed curated a series of temporary public art installations  “Site Projects DC,” for the Washington Project for the Arts.
