In 1995, he started his radio career in Toledo, Ohio, at WSPD as a producer and reporter. Sean was named host and sports director of The Evening Sports Show in 1997. Baligian broadcasts various sports for the station including CCHA hockey and OHL hockey. He was the analyst for both University of Toledo basketball and football.

Sean started working part-time in Detroit for WJR in 1998. He was doing a Sunday call-in show. Sean alongside former Lion Greg Landry worked on the Detroit Lions post-game show. In May 1999, he started working for WDFN and left WSPD in August 1999 to work full-time for WDFN. Sean hosted It is What It Is, the 9:00 am–12:00 pm show.

He co-hosted a WDFN seasonal weekly hockey program titled Ice Time alongside Greg Brady, a fellow WDFN personality. Again in 2004, Sean would briefly work for both WSPD and WDFN. He relocated his Toledo afternoon sports talk show to WCWA in May of that year when the station went all-sports. Clear Channel owns all three stations.

Sean resumed hosting the morning show on WDFN on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, from Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 10:00 am.

He announced on Monday, October 24, 2011, that he was parting ways with WDFN. Sean returned to Grand Rapids to ESPN 96.1 on November 28, 2011. He hosted It Is What It Is, a new show with a familiar name from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday through Friday. For over ten years, he has been the play-by-play radio voice of Wayne State University’s Warrior football. Moreover, Sean joined Woodward Sports Network in late 2020.
