Sam Dolnick is an American film & television producer, and journalist. He currently serves as the assistant managing editor for The New York Times. Sam participated in the launching of The Daily podcast and the documentary series called The Weekly. He interned for Wayne Barrett at The Village Voice in 2002 after graduating from Columbia University. Also, Sam worked night shifts at The Staten Island Advance from 2002 to 2004.
He was among the three cousins from the Ochs-Sulzberger family who were candidates to take over as deputy publisher of the Times and successor to Arthur Sulzberger Jr. However, the publisher’s son named A.G. Sulzberger, was named to the role in October 2016. Sam was elevated to the masthead in 2017 as an assistant editor. His major role in that position is to oversee the Times’ audiovisual work.
