Phlash Phelps Bio | Wiki

Phlash Phelps (Full name: Gordon Phlash Phelps)  is an American radio personality as well as a disc jockey. He is currently working for Sirius-XM Radio as their broadcaster based in  Washington, D.C. Phlash hosts the weekday morning drive time on the ’60s on the 6 channel, the program plays music hits from the 1960s.

Prior to joining SiriusXM, he was working at XM Satellite Radio in 2001. In addition, Phlash held many radio jobs, moving around the country to work in a series of secondary as well as tertiary markets. Phlash is known for his fast-talking, retro style of broadcasting, and also for making American geography a focal point of his show. While still young, Phlash used to listen to Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 countdown show.

It made him become very knowledgeable about what the current hits were. After winning a station contest,  Phlash received a tour of the studios of Baltimore’s WBSB (B-104). At 15 he discovered that being a radio personality is what he loved for a career. The deejays that influenced Phlash were Johnny Walker on WFBR (AMA) Baltimore.

With his sound effects and personality-driven style, Johnny Walker played an important role in Phlash’s career selection. Also, some of the jocks on B-104 were his role models. In addition, Phlash listened to  Rick Dees’ Weekly Top 40 countdown show, it included plenty of sound effects as well as humor. A final influence was the fast-talking Terry “Motormouth” Young on WCAU (98.1) in  Philadelphia during its early-mid-1980s Hot Hits phase show.
