Max  Boot ( Full name: Max Alexandrovich Boot) is a Russian-American author, lecturer, editorialist, consultant, and military historian. He started his career in journalism by writing columns for the Berkeley student newspaper called The Daily Californian. The journalist claimed later that he believes he is the only conservative writer in that paper’s history.

Currently, he is the Jeane J. Kirkpatrick Senior Fellow in National Security Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations.  Also, Max serves as a contributor to The Washington Post. He formerly  served as a writer and editor for Christian Science Monitor before joining The Wall Street Journal in the 1990s. Max has written for countless publications such as the Los Angeles Times, The Weekly Standard, and The New York Times.

Also, he has authored books on military history. Max published a biography of Edward Lansdale tired The Road Not Taken and another book titled Corrosion of Conservatism: Why I Left the Right in 2018. From 2007 to 2008, Max was a senior foreign policy adviser to John McCain’s presidential campaign.
