She has appeared on television, in film, and on stage.  She has played supporting roles in countless films such as Secretariat, The Hours, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and Million Dollar Baby. Also,  Margo voiced a fictionalized version of herself in the Netflix adult-animated show BoJack Horseman.

She was born to her parents in Jacksonville, Texas as the youngest of three children. Margo is the only daughter of William Everett and Margaret (née Pruitt) Martindale. Her father was known as a champion dog handler in Texas and throughout the Southern United States. He also owned and operated a lumber company in Jacksonville. Margo’s oldest brother is the professional golfer and golf course designer Billy Martindale.  Her other brother Bobby Tim, died in 2004.
