She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the United States to her loving mother Christy, and her father Ted. Kambri was brought up in rural Texas with deaf parents. Ted and Christy met at a school for the deaf. Christy had a partial hearing. Furthermore, she worked factory jobs. On the other hand, Ted was completely deaf. He worked in construction. Ted was referred to by everyone as Cigo. This meant, Can I Go Out. He built a tin shed for the family while they saved up enough to lease a trailer. The family moved back into the shed when their trailer was repossessed.

Ted attacked Kambri’s mother the summer before she entered her senior year at Richland High School. Luckily, Kambri was able to stop the attack and dial 911. For this reason, he was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Ted was arrested for the attempted murder of his girlfriend on June 29, 2002. He was sentenced to twenty years in a Texas prison. Unfortunately, Ted passed away during his term in prison. His cause of death came after being diagnosed with lung cancer and died at the age of 73. Besides, Kambri has one brother.
