While at WCAU-TV-Philadelphia in the year 2001, John received one big criticism after predicting a major blizzard. He had named it the “storm of the century” that would hit Philadelphia. John compared the storm to the North American blizzard that occurred in 1996. He even asked the Philadelphians to stay home and schools to be closed. Unfortunately for John, the big said storm never came to be.
As a result, he received thousands-plus angry emails and many death threats from his viewers. A year later, he left Philadelphia and returned to WCBS as a meteorologist. He remained there for six years. In 2009, John returned to Philadelphia now as the Chief Meteorologist at Fox 29. However, he rubbed shoulders with the management after they refused to carry out an interview with the former Phillies star, Lenny Dykstra who was John’s, close pal.
In December 2011, he was put on hold after taking part in Playboy magazine and was fired a month later. After he left Fox 29, John went to work as a weather columnist at The Philadelphia Inquirer. There, he launched a weather website known as Weather Savior but it was shut down in less than a year.
