Prior to that, Jim worked at KAYU-TV and KCWT in 1987. From 1987 to 1989, he served as an anchor at KNDO as well as KNDU. He as well served in another station from 1989 to 1991. From 1991 to 1994, Jim worked at KSNV, he left the station to go and join KOMO-TV.
