Jerry Springer ( Full name; Gerald Norman Springer) is a British-American producer, comedian, actor, journalist, broadcaster, and television judge. He formerly served as a lawyer and politician. Between September 30, 1991, and July 26, 2018, Jerry served as the host of the tabloid talk show called Jerry Springer. Since September 2019, Springer has hosted the courtroom show called Judge Jerry and he debuted the Jerry Springer Podcast in 2015.

The show was beating The Oprah Winfrey Show in many cities by 1998. It also reached over 6.7 million viewers.
The show guest Nancy Campbell-Panitz was murdered by her ex-husband after they appeared with his girlfriend on a May 2000 episode. Nancy’s sons filed suit in Sarasota County against Jerry, his producers, and his distributor on July 10, 2002, claiming that Jerry created “a mood that led to murder.” Ultimately, his estate of Nancy dropped all monetary claims against Jerry.
Also, the show agreed to waive its claims against the personal representative of the estate of Nancy, and his counsel for malicious prosecution. A UK version of the show, The Springer Show aired in 2005 on Britain’s ITV network. The VH1 “celebreality” series titled The Springer Hustle premiered in April 2007.
