Glenda Lewis is an American anchor as well as a correspondent. She is currently working at WXYZ-TV as a co-anchor since September 1, 2003. Glenda spent her childhood in Detroit. Her mother is in the broadcasting industry as well, also serving as an anchor for Channel 7. When Glenda was employed by Channel 7, to her was like a dream come true.

Glenda had been walking the halls of Channel 7 since she was a toddler. So, to walk through the doors as now a  professional and earn a place there, is a feeling she can’t describe thanks to her mother. Glenda wanted to become a reporter since her childhood. When she  was five, Glenda stood in front of a mirror and held a brush as though it was a microphone, and she would say, ‘Back to you, Bill.’ Glenda is an Emmy Award winner, the latest is one for Best Anchor.

She got it from the hands of a prior winner in that same category, Diana Lewis, her own mother. In 2012, she was honored by the Michigan Chronicle. Furthermore, as a Woman of Excellence, she participates in many community organizations; such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, United Negro College Fund, Black United Fund, MOTTEP Minority Organ as well as Tissue Transplant, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

The journey did not stop there, she went on to  WJRT-TV and worked for 5 years. Later, Glenda moved on as a co-anchor of ABC 12 News at 6 and 11 pm before she could join the channel 7 team on September 1, 2003. Because she is very good at what she does, Glenda was nominated multiple times for Emmy Awards, she won two in 2005 and 2006 and received the title of the “Best Newscast” in 2006. Glenda co-anchors the “NOW” show at 4 p.m. as well as “Action News” at 7 a.m. on TV20 Detroit.
