Dayn Perry is an American baseball journalist and author. He formerly served as a special consultant for the San Diego Padres from 2001 until 2003. As a journalist, Dany has written for various publications such as The New York Sun, Reason, The Montreal Gazette,  The Miami Herald, ESPN Magazine,  Washington Monthly, Foxsports.com, BaseballProspectus.com,   ESPN, and FanGraphs online journal NotGraphs.

Dany launched his sportswriting career by working as an intern for sportstalk.com.The journalist moved to ESPN along with the website after it was bought out by ESPN. Dany continued his writing with ESPN. He wrote a regular column titled Can of Corn at Baseball Prospectus from July 2003 to July 2008. In addition to his regular column with Baseball Prospectus, Dany contributed to many of the annual books and to Baseball Between the Numbers.

When asked the reasons for moving to NotGraphs full-time, Dayn said that he was “tired of straight analysis” and that he wanted a place to exercise his “boundless” if at times “awful” sense of humor, for the “unbridled whimsy.” While there, he joined a staff that included Jeremy Blachman, Carson Cistulli,  and Navin Vaswani. In February 2012, Dany accepted an offer to join CBSSports.com as a writer for the Eye on Baseball blog. He continues to contribute to NotGraphs as well.
