Brad Edwards CBS

He joined CBS 2 network in 2012 after reporting stints in Indianapolis, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Lansing. Brad immediately became famous due to his theatrical reporting style and a tendency to draw attention to himself. He has been a fierce competitor and outspoken champion for his station all along. One time Brad publicly pushed back after “WGN Morning News” anchors Larry Potash and Robin Baumgarten, later CBS 2 was mocked by weatherman Paul Konrad for offering tips to viewers on how to walk on icy surfaces.

His achievement as a top anchor at CBS 2 came in with a new style and not the usual fanfare that accompanies such announcements. The CBS2 Management revealed the move using a memo that explained the departures of Johnson and morning news anchor Marissa Bailey because their contracts were not renewed. Brad was taken to replace Johnson, while Mike Puccinelli replaced Bailey alongside Erin Kennedy.

His year-long inquiry into the Wayne County morgue in Detroit led to the burial of dozens of indigent souls, and also the fast-tracking of funding for a massive facility expansion. Illinois instituted two new state laws in 2021 after a revelatory investigation by Brad and his team. The statutes protect the identities of sex abuse victims after his series showed a deeply disturbing pattern of unfettered public access to such information.

He also served as an adjunct professor at Columbia College of Chicago. Brad served on the Board of Directors at the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago from 2017 to 202o and Devices 4 the Disabled since 2020. In Addition to that, Brad serves as CBS 2 Chicago’s SAG-AFTRA Steward.
