Aziz Ansari ( Full name: Aziz Ismail Ansari) is an American director, writer, comedian, actor, and producer. He became famours for his role as Tom Haverford on the NBC series titled Parks and Recreation from 2009 to 2015. Also, Aziz gained fame as the creator of the Netflix series titled Master of None in 2015 where he also starred.

Aziz won several acting and writing awards for Parks and Recreation such as two Emmys and a Golden Globe. This was the first award received by an Indian American and Asian American actor for acting on television. Aziz started performing comedy in 2000 in New York City, while a student at NYU Stern. Later, he co-created and starred in the MTV sketch comedy show titled Human Giant.

After that, Aziz had acting roles in a number of feature films.  He gained prominence for his role in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation where he appeared as Tom Haverford from 2009 to 2015. In November 2015, he starred in the Netflix original series Master of None as Dev Shah. Aziz created and wrote the series with Parks and Recreation writer Alan Yang. The show was called  “the year’s best comedy straight out of the gate” by James Poniewozik of The New York Times and praised for its genre-crossing appeal. Initially, the show ran for two seasons. Production work started on a third season in early 2020 in London. However, it was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Production was getting ready to resume by January 2021, with Naomi Ackie joining the cast. On May 23, 2021, The season was released. Aziz earned a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy for his performance in the show. In 2016, The series earned four Emmy nominations: Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Aziz and Yang, Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for  Aziz.

Both Yang and Aziz won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the episode “Parents”. In May 2016, Yang and Aziz were honored with a Peabody Award for the series. Aziz won a Golden Globe in 2018 for best actor in a TV comedy for the show. As a result, he became the first Asian-American actor to win a Golden Globe for acting in television.
