AN Wilson ( Full name: Andrew Norman Wilson) is an English writer and newspaper columnist. He is best known for his novels, critical biographies, and works of popular history. Currently, Andrew serves as an occasional columnist for the Daily Mail.

He formerly served as a columnist for the London Evening Standard. Andrew has also been serving as an occasional contributor to some publications including The Times Literary Supplement, The Spectator, New Statesman, and The Observer.

Originally, he entered the Church of England seminary, St Stephen’s House, Oxford, where he intended to be ordained as a priest. However, Andrew left the college after only one year of study. Five years after graduation, he published a novel titled Unguarded Hours (1978) based upon his experiences at the seminary, as well as his perception of its homo-erotic atmosphere. For two years, Andrew taught English at Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood. He then became a lecturer in medieval literature at St Hugh’s College and New College, Oxford. Andrew worked there for seven years.
