Stephen Mangan is an English presenter, comedian, actor, and writer.  He appeared as Guy Secretan in Green Wing, Seán Lincoln in Episodes, Dan Moody in I’m Alan Partridge, Bigwig in Watership Down, Richard Pitt in Hang Ups, Postman Pat in Postman Pat: The Movie, and Andrew in Bliss (2018).

As a stage actor, Stephen was Tony-nominated after his role as Norman in The Norman Conquests on Broadway.  He as well starred in Jeeves as Bertie Wooster and in Perfect Nonsense as Wooster at the Duke of York’s Theatre in the West End. The latter won the 2014 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. Apart from than, Stephen presented Children In Need 2020 for the BBC.

He was born to his parents in Ponders End, in Enfield, north London, to Irish parents.  Weeks after the death of his mother Mary, Stephen auditioned for the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He went on to study there for a period of three years. Stephen backed the 2020 National Brain Appeal with a unique online art gallery exhibition sale, it’s a charity supporting research at the National Brain Hospital.

After Stephen graduated from RADA in 1994,  he did not pursue lead roles on-screen, rather, he preferred to take what he saw as the less limited opportunities on the stage. Stephen performed in plays throughout the UK and the West End between 1994 and 2000. Later, he joined the theatre company Cheek by Jowl for an international tour of Much Ado About Nothing. The tour earned Stephen a nomination for a National Theatre Ian Charleson Award.
