He led the Louisville Cardinals to the 1974 NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament as a junior. Junior also led the Cardinals to the Final Four of the 1975 NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament, where they lost to the eventual NCAA Champion UCLA 75–74 in the National Semi-Final as a senior. He left college with an average of 15.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 87 career games.
